The Lede: Brooklyn may be called Kings County, but it has been the stomping grounds of many a president, too. From Chester A. Arthur to both Roosevelts, to Hoover and Truman and Eisenhower and Obama, the city-cum-borough played host to numerous commanders-in-chief before, during and after their tenure.

  • Actress Rose Byrne honored as Harvard’s Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year with parade and roast: Boerum Hill’s Rose Byrne, fresh off her Golden Globe Award win and Oscar nomination for the leading role in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” was honored Friday as the 2026 Woman of the Year by Harvard University’s Hasty Pudding Theatricals.

  • Carroll Gardens apartment building sells at a $3M loss, revealing extent of rental market pressures: Stephen Mack, a founder of the 13-year-old firm, signed the transfer paperwork on behalf of the seller but declined to comment on the loss or the decision to sell the 95-year-old property, which was last renovated in 2014.

  • Man indicted in alleged Luigi Mangione jailbreak attempt: Minnesota man Mark Anderson, 36, has been indicted by a grand jury for allegedly attempting to pose as an FBI agent to break Luigi Mangione out of the Metropolitan Detention Center in Sunset Park, ABC 7 New York reports.

  • Weekly flu cases increase as NYC reports 146K this season: Children under 18 account for 52% of cases. Emergency room visits and hospitalizations tied to flu continued to decline and remained under 0.5% of all visits.

  • Adams fined for using taxpayer money to spotlight Cuomo sexual harassment charges: Former Mayor Eric Adams was fined $4,000 for having City Hall staffers buy whistles to put on reporters’ chairs at an official press conference. (THE CITY)
