THE LEDE: Good morning. The osprey is a handsome creature, built exquisitely for what it does. They are found plentifully in several places dotted around Brooklyn, and they need your help.
The Rundown

The osprey: A wonderful Brooklyn bird that needs our help: Ospreys can be found in Bush Terminal Park. Sunset Park has dedicated osprey nesting structures along the waterfront. Calvert Vaux Park is another site, as is Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. So is the East River.
Police arrest suspect who aimed for man but shot service dog in Greenwood Heights: Adrian Benitez, 29, was arrested around 8:15 a.m. Tuesday and charged with attempted murder, three counts of assault, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and aggravated cruelty to animals, police said.
