The Lede: Good morning. A salt-spreader truck equipped with a snow plow ran into an Amazon cargo e-bike in Brooklyn Heights on Wednesday afternoon, sending the bike operator to the hospital.

  • Hundreds without power in Bed-Stuy as temperature hits single digits: Residents took to social media to commiserate and ask for updates, reporting brownouts and blackouts. “This is torture that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy!” one user wrote on Reddit. 

  • Snow plow rams Amazon cargo bike in Brooklyn, sending driver to hospital: The incident occurred on Hicks Street near Orange Street in the North Heights, where the Amazon employee had been making deliveries. Traffic was snarled on Hicks Street while the investigation was underway.

  • 10 people die in NYC’s frigid cold, raising questions about the city’s preparedness: Their causes of death are still under investigation, but some showed signs of having succumbed to hypothermia. Officials said several victims were believed to have been living on the streets.
