The Lede: Less than 12 hours after taking to the streets in celebration of the Knicks’ championship victory, Brooklynites were back for another competition. The starting lineup looked a little different on Sunday as four-legged contenders made their entrance on Montague Street for the Brooklyn Heights Association’s annual dog show.

The Rundown

  • The art of waiting for a woodcock: For more than 50 years, Brooklyn birder Peter Dorosh has helped generations of New Yorkers learn to look more closely at the natural world around them.

  • ‘I’ve been waiting all year for this’: No, not the Knicks’ championship win — it’s the annual dog show in historic Brooklyn Heights: Now in its third year since returning from a decade-long hiatus, the show drew nearly 75 canine contestants, according to Brooklyn Heights Association Deputy Director Kim Glickman.

  • No surprise – Brooklyn’s real estate outlook remains bullish: One developer sums it up: "We go where things are popular, and people want to live in Brooklyn."

  • Mural brightens McGuinness Blvd. as bike lane project promised by Mamdani gets underway: A temporary mural along McGuinness Boulevard at Father Studzinski Square in Greenpoint has been completed, transforming a long stretch of asphalt and concrete bike barrier into engaging and accessible artwork.

  • I grew up in Williamsburg. I know what happens when we don’t build affordable housing: "If Monitor Point doesn’t move forward, hundreds of affordable homes stay unbuilt. The people who have lived in the city for generations and helped make it great will head to Florida or Texas or wherever they can afford a home."

  • Polls are open, New York: What to know about the top House races: From the western Bronx to Downtown Brooklyn, it’s an unusually competitive primary election season that’s often pitting Mamdani-backed insurgents against establishment Democrats. (The City Reporter)
