The Lede: Good morning. Construction is underway on a $37.5 million restoration of Prospect Park’s Vale of Cashmere — the first major overhaul of the secluded landscape in more than 50 years. But not everyone is happy about the renovation.

  • Local oysters could be scarce after rough winter: Producers said oyster variety at metro-area restaurants was likely to be slimmer, with some estimating losses of a million oysters or more during January and February’s deep freeze, and that prices could spike.

  • Community raises concerns about Vale restoration: Organizers, including queer Brooklynites who have long used the Vale as a gathering space, say the redesign could undermine the privacy and character that have defined it for decades.

  • Ossé gets roasted online for put-down of wine bar’s rotisserie chicken price: A social media comment on Thursday by Brooklyn Councilmember Chi Ossé — about the price of rotisserie chicken at the new Greenpoint wine bar Gigi’s — set off “a firestorm” in the comments, as first reported by The New York Times.

  • Hunter’s Steak & Ale House in Bay Ridge closes down: The announcement comes more than a year after the owners and manager of the eatery told customers that the eatery wouldn’t close even though the building was listed for sale.

  • Restoration of active Catholic church serving Navy Yard area wins preservation award: Mary of Nazareth Parish-Sacred Heart Church, near the Brooklyn Navy Yard, was designed by Thomas F. Houghton, a former chief draftsman for Patrick Keely, the leading 19th-century architect of Catholic churches.
