THE LEDE: Good morning. The New York City Department of Health reported Wednesday that a Manhattan resident has contracted West Nile virus, spread by infected mosquitoes, after spending time outdoors both within the city and at several locations outside the city.

DOH: First person detected with West Nile Virus in NYC this year: Most people infected with the virus have no symptoms or mild symptoms, but about 1 in 150 can develop a serious and potentially fatal illness of the brain and spinal cord.
