The Lede: Good morning. The National Weather Service predicts a 50% chance of snow falling in the city on Sunday. The greatest chance is that the metropolitan area sees only a few inches, but as much as a foot is possible.

  • Brooklyn Heights to fill every empty tree bed with a new tree: The ambitious effort is in collaboration with Councilmember Lincoln Restler’s District 33 Street Tree Plan, which aims to fill every viable street tree bed from Greenpoint to Boerum Hill.

  • New York City could see up to a foot of snow this weekend: Depending on various factors, the storm could track along the coast of New England, or head out to sea. “A coastal low is really what’s going to determine what happens,” said meteorologist Liv Johnson.

  • Murrow High School first in city to heat with repurposed cooking oil: Brooklyn’s Edward R. Murrow High School has become the first public school in New York City to heat its entire campus using vegetable oil biofuel, replacing traditional fossil fuels with a lower-emission alternative, according to CBS.
