The Lede: Good morning. Bitterly cold temperatures are headed to Brooklyn this weekend, hovering around 10 degrees Saturday and Sunday, with wind chills below zero, according to the National Weather Service. On top of the Arctic temperatures, NWS is following a major storm that could bring as much as 6 inches of snow to the city.

  • Mamdani calls for abolishing ICE: Mayor Zohran Mamdani on Tuesday reiterated campaign calls to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement in an interview on ABC’s “The View,” saying the agency is acting callously and lawlessly.

  • ‘Legendary’ winter storm could hit NYC this weekend: City agencies warn residents to stock up on necessities before the storm, including medications, and to be alert to the signs of frostbite and hypothermia, which can develop very quickly.

  • Locals say goodbye to Bay Ridge Irish pub The Leif: It’s the last call for a popular Irish pub as The Leif closed earlier this month. Co-owner Mike Gallagher made the official announcement in a post on Friday.

  • Hochul’s budget includes increased NYPD presence in subways, houses of worship: The Securing Communities Against Hate Crimes program will receive $35 million to protect houses of worship and other vulnerable locations.
