THE LEDE: Good morning. A new modular restroom has opened in Columbus Park as part of a citywide pilot program, giving visitors a free place to go — but only for 10 minutes at a time. Then the doors open, ready or not.

  • Columbus Park’s new restroom: 10 minutes, then the doors open: Visits to the restroom are limited to 10 minutes, so it’s best to stay off social media and email while using the facilities, an attendant said. “You do get a warning before the doors open,” he said.

  • Merger between Maimonides Health and NYC Health + Hospitals receives unanimous vote: Ken Gibbs, president and CEO of Maimonides Health, said the approval brings it one step closer to securing the financial support needed to maintain and expand the outstanding care it provides.

  • Brooklyn College UN week panel talk hosts Nobel Prize winner: The panel explored the role grassroots movements play in advancing peace, the importance of investing in women and communities, and the responsibilities of leaders in times of crisis and change.

  • Sunset Park hosts annual Mexican Independence Day Parade: Mexican Independence Day, also known as Día de la Independencia, is celebrated each year on Sept. 16 and marks the start of the war for independence from Spain in 1810.

  • Trump’s thumbs‑up to Irish reunification breaks with precedent but evokes earlier age of White House support: President Donald Trump stated that he would “love to see” Ireland unified and that it is “going to happen eventually,” so it “may as well happen now.”
