The Lede: Good morning. Brooklyn Supreme Court Judge Inga O’Neale this week granted the city’s motion to dismiss a lawsuit by the Court Street Merchants Association seeking to put the brakes on a protected bike lane along Court Street from Schermerhorn Street to Hamilton Avenue, according to a court filing.

  • Verizon outage disrupts calling and data services for phone customers across the US: Impacted customers said they saw “SOS” or other no signal messages on their phones. In cities like New York, warnings were sent out noting that the outage may disrupt 911 calls.

  • Judge dismisses Court Street bike lane lawsuit: Cobble Hill and Carroll Gardens businesses told the Brooklyn Eagle in October that the street’s redesign, which eliminated one of the two driving lanes, was causing traffic jams and costing them customers.

  • Offshore wind developer prevails in court as Trump says the US ‘will not approve any windmills’: A federal judge ruled Monday that work on a major offshore wind farm for Rhode Island and Connecticut can resume, handing the industry at least a temporary victory as President Donald Trump seeks to shut it down.

  • Man dead after exiting vehicle through backseat window on Belt Parkway: Police said Rami Elsuwi was a passenger in a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe when he crawled out of the vehicle through the rear window on the Belt Parkway and 92nd Street Pedestrian Bridge. He hit his head on a guardrail.

  • Jill Epstein, former Civil Court jurist, formally inducted as Supreme Court judge: Newly-elected Kings County Supreme Court Justice Jill Epstein was officially inducted before fellow members of the judiciary, attorneys, elected officials, friends and family, in a moving ceremony Sunday afternoon at Gargiulo’s restaurant.
