The Lede: Good morning. Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su has approved a request by Brooklyn officials for an extension of the Brooklyn Marine Terminal comment period, Assemblymember Jo Anne Simon announced late Tuesday.

  • Sysco expands into high-margin restaurant segment with $29B deal: Sysco, the nation’s largest food distributor, will acquire supplier Restaurant Depot — which was founded in Brooklyn in 1976 — in a deal worth more than $29 billion.

  • James urges Congress to combat xylazine tranquilizer spread: Widely known by its street name “tranq,” xylazine is a veterinary tranquilizer intended for large animals like horses, and is not approved for any human use.

  • Brooklyn artist Risha Gorig’s sculpture ‘The Journey’ makes its home at Prospect Park through summer: A sculpture of birds flying in the sky on the shoreline of the Prospect Park Lullwater will be on view through August, with an associated Earth Day program on April 19.

  • ‘Black Judges, Black Girls’ event hopes to galvanize and empower the next generation: The event brings together experienced judges and aspiring young minds to foster connections, provide access and raise awareness about opportunities in graduate and law school.

  • More than 40,000 311 calls from Rikers go into a black hole every year: Detainees and families dial 311 to report freezing cells, hallucinations and denied medical care. Many complaints are routed as 'customer comments' and vanish without action. (THE CITY)
