THE LEDE: Good morning. It’s been a hard summer for street trees in Brooklyn Heights. Last week’s thunderstorm and high winds added to the carnage, taking down two mature honey locust trees on Pineapple Street at Columbia Heights.

Dolly Parton, music star, actor and beloved figure who spanned generations dies at 80: Dolly Parton, the country music icon whose soaring vibrato vocals, poignant songwriting and sparkling costumes defined her rise from a log cabin in the Tennessee mountains to the height of stardom and acclaim, has died. She was 80 years old.
A rough summer: More mature trees lost in Brooklyn Heights: More damage was seen on the Promenade, with branches falling on top of trees previously damaged during last month’s “microburst,” which felled large trees on Pierrepont, Remsen, Clinton and Joralemon streets as well as Cadman Plaza Park and other neighborhoods across Brooklyn.
