The Lede: Good morning. A beloved Brooklyn tradition may be in danger of being scrapped this year. Coney Island USA posted on its social media pages that due to “an urgent financial crisis,” this year’s Mermaid Parade may be canceled.

  • Officials break ground for restoration of Prospect Park’s Vale: The Prospect Park Alliance describes the vale as “a lush woodland oasis, located along a dramatic slope, featuring a pool and fountain.” The restoration project is the single largest capital allocation to Prospect Park since the Lakeside project in 2010.
